Good Stuff
These are things we like arranged a bit haphazardly for now.
Job Angels – bless them
These guys have a simple concept, people dedicating themselves to helping one other person find a job. I’d like to help thousands, but one is a good number to start with.
Open the Vault
This is a really nice site, beautifully laid-out and loaded with excellent information. Plus, they’ll pay us if you buy something there, so we highly recommend them.
How Ugly is Your Parachute? – Riley Guide
I came across this really ugly job information site on my own and then I saw mention of it in Richard Bolles’ book, What Color Is Your Parachute? 2009: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers. He says it’s one of the best, so I went back. Take a look. It’s quite a throwback, isn’t it? Looks like a self-designed site from the mid-nineties that never got a facelift. But if you can navigate it, you can find all kinds of well-written and useful information.
How Ugly is Your Blog? – Fix it with Thesis
Okay, for you advanced people who have a Wordpress blog, we recommend the Thesis Theme. Check out the Thesis Gallery Showcase for good examples of what you can do with it. We’re affiliates and we use the theme on this site. You have to pay for it, but it gives you so much power and makes so many things simple, that it’s worth it. We own the Developers Edition, which lets us use it on as many sites as we want.
Glassdoor.com
Basically this website lets you get the lowdown on companies you might consider working for before they get it on you. Here’s how it works. You write an anonymous review about a former or current employer, and then you’re in. Now you have inside access to salary information about tons of companies. You can also find out how employees feel about working there.
